What is happening in the photo?

Photograph of Laurence McKeown taken by a local photographer in his parent’s house. Laurence was home was on release from the Maze Prison to attend the funeral of his mother. This photograph was taken by a local photographer taken shortly after the end of the hunger strike in 1981.
